Hello Climate Champions!

We're getting ready to launch three ambitious policy campaigns in the weeks to come. Join us for several virtual meetings over the next few weeks as we begin planning to organize our communities behind these exciting initiatives.

Statewide Update & Action Meeting
Wednesday, September 20 • 6:30-7:30 pm
Laura Kissel, Founder of Save Arlington Wildlife, will be joining us to share her insights about how her town passed a Home Rule Petition to ban second generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs). We’ll then discuss some strategies for Home Rule campaigns in our own towns. Register in advance to receive a confirmation email with instructions for joining the meeting.

Growing Solar, Protecting Nature
Monday, October 2 • Begins at 11:00 am
To chart a path towards building all the solar energy we need— without sacrificing the nature we have— Mass Audubon has teamed up with Harvard Forest to analyze Massachusetts’ pathways for future solar development in our new report: Growing Solar, Protecting Nature. Please join us to learn about the findings of this report and the path forward during this VIP-only event on October 2!

Upcoming Actions

You can prepare for our Advocacy Grassroots Summit on September 27 by taking some of the following actions:

  • Do some online research to learn about your town’s form of local government and possible allies & opponents. Use this document to help you get started.
  • Catch up with an introduction to our three new advocacy campaigns around solar array siting on disturbed lands, horseshoe crab protections, and banning SGARs: View the slide deck, watch the recording, or review the agenda.
  • If you missed the July hub meeting, watch our training on campaign planning or review the slide deck.
  • If you haven’t already, please save a link to the new Climate Champions Resources document that has all the links you will need in one place: all meeting recordings and slides, orientation materials, training recordings, and key local & state climate action resources.

I am excited to start organizing with you to protect raptors and other wildlife from rodenticide poisoning.

Onward,

Heather
