What Can I Do with All this Kale?
Dealing with the massive garden harvest this year can be challenging at times. Here are some ideas from Sanctuary Director Christy Foote-Smith on how to preserve fresh local produce for the coming months.
I grow green peas, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, cucumber, green beans, shell beans, turnips, spinach, carrots, celeriac, beets, kale, butternut squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, basil and other herbs, and pumpkins. I try to keep track of what does well each year so I can reorder those seeds the following season. This year I am trying corn, sweet potatoes, shell beans, and broccoli for the first time. As you can imagine, with a bountiful harvest, finding ways to preserve vegetables becomes very important. Read more >>
This Fall Have Some Fun on the Farm!
Fall weekends fill up fast, so mark your calendar now for our October Harvest Weekends. Enjoy family-friendly games, crafts, live animal demonstrations, and a special hayride. There will also be opportunities for pick-your-own raspberries, pumpkins, and potatoes. No registration is required, and standard admission rates apply. Pick-your-own is not included in the price of admission.

Coming Soon
The yellow construction tape is out, in the wooded area near the parking lot. What does it mean? A new and exciting all person's trail is being constructed around the Ice Pond. We'll share more information on this exciting project once it is complete.
Fall Program Catalog Available Now
Special evening hayrides, autumnal astronomy, bird banding, digital photography, cheesemaking, and fungus field walks—just a few of the offerings in our Fall Program Catalog. If you haven't received yours in the mail, they are available when you visit the farm. All of our programs are also listed online in our searchable catalog.
