"The Perch" Thanksgiving 2014

Dear Friends of Allens Pond,

Cornocopia

Although it's a particularly blustery and rain-filled day at Allens Pond, we have lots to be thankful for:  Wonderful supporters and visitors, the wild turkeys at Stone Barn Farm, northern harriers cruising by the field station and gorgeous seasonal changes that fall brings to the grasslands at Allens Neck. Take a moment as the holidays approach and come visit with us. Getting out on the trails and detaching from the hustle-and-bustle is a gift unto yourself!

Speaking of gifts...how about being a holiday hero by gifting racing ducks for the 12th Annual Allens Pond Duck Derby - where the grand prize is dinner for two, anywhere in the world with 2 nights' lodging and round-trip airfare? It's the perfect $10 stocking stuffer! We also have $32 family memberships that extend benefits year-round and statewide, and lots more in the way of t-shirts, hats and field guides at the field station. Stop in and gift something meaningful this holiday season.

It's been a very busy month at both the Allens Pond and Great Neck wildlife sanctuaries and we're not slowing down anytime soon... 'tis the season for Owl Prowls and some wonderful new children's programs this winter -

Check it all out and join us for a program soon!

Be safe out on the trails when you visit. Wear bright colors when on the trails (blaze orange, bright yellow) and share you plans with others prior to visiting, especially if you are alone.  Your safety and enjoyment are of paramount importance to us!

From all of us to you and yours - have a very happy Thanksgiving!
