Sweet Sap

It will soon be that delicious time of year when our sugar maples are bursting with the sweet sap that we use to make maple syrup. Fortunately, we have many ways to enjoy this time-honored tradition, from sugaring tours to pancake breakfasts.

A Switch Worth Making

Make the SwitchYou’ve switched out lightbulbs and replaced old appliances with Energy Star ones. You bring your own bags to the grocery store and fill them with organic, locally grown produce. You’ve had an energy audit and properly insulated all of your home’s nooks and crannies.

Short of installing solar panels, which may not be feasible or affordable, what can you do to green your house even more?

Learn about a simple and affordable way to significantly reduce your impact.

Where In Mass Audubon Are We Now?

Congratulations to everyone who guessed that the last photo featured in Explorations was taken at Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary in Lincoln. Of those with correct guesses, Dana of Arlington, MA, was chosen at random to be the lucky winner of a pocket field guide.

Ready to guess another Mass Audubon wildlife sanctuary?

This sanctuary is beloved by photographers for its diversity of wildlife. An expansive grassland habitat provides crucial nesting areas for bobolinks and Savannah sparrows. Its bridges, easy paths, and large observation blinds make it a welcoming place for all nature lovers.
