What makes our camps special? Acres of space to play and learn. Time spent outdoors in nature. An active, fun, non-competitive learning environment.
What makes our camps really special? The people! Our
counselors have child care experience and a strong interest in nature and the
environment. They have warm personalities, good senses of humor, a love of children, and
joy in the out-of-doors. Our small group size means that our counselors can develop
one-on-one relationships with every child at camp.
Read this interview with returning counselor, Moth. (All camp staff have nature names.) Find out what inspires her to return to Broad Meadow Brook every summer and what animal she can't wait to share with her campers this year. Natural History Mystery Can you recognize this vase-shaped tree silhouette? The little clumps in the upper branches are all early flowers. Many of our earliest plants to flower are trees and shrubs, especially the wind pollinated species taking advantage of spring's blustery conditions and the lack of foliage allowing for good air flow. This year, thanks to our week of summer in March, most plants are earlier than average in their blooming. Answer: The vase-shaped tree silhouette belongs to the American Elm.
