Thank You for a Huge, Successful Duck Derby!

Mass Audubon Allens Pond Duck Derby Logo

This year's Duck Derby was absolutely amazing!

We raised over $55,000 from 5,927 duck adoptions, a stupendous silent auction, a fantastic live plant auction, and an awesome festival where over 200 BBQ meals were served! All proceeds go directly towards supporting the work we do at Allens Pond.

The 15th Annual Duck Derby will take place on Saturday, August 18, 2018.

And in honor of the Duck Derby's 15th Anniversary, we're offering two great adoption deals—a Box of 15 Quackers for $100 and/or a Flotilla of 30 Ducks for $200!

Did you know you can adopt ducks online at any time of year? They make great gifts and support our work and sanctuary stewardship.

Fall Has Arrived!

Pumpkin from Allens Pond

The monarchs are stopping over in the butterfly garden, leaves have changed and there's a crispness in the air that signals fall has arrived —an amazing season to visit Allens Pond and Great Neck.

Join us for one of our great fall programs, including our Great, BIG "Walk it Off" Weekend Hike the day after Thanksgiving. We'll walk the entire length of the Quansett Trail from Stone Barn Farm to the field station and back for a total of six miles of post-feast redemption. Space is limited; register online to secure your spot.

We'll also pleased to be a sponsor and exhibitor at the Mountainfilm event this Saturday at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Marching Forward/Mass. is proud to host Mountainfilm on Tour at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. The selection of documentary shorts includes thought-provoking explorations of climate change and the environment; immigrant struggles; interactions with nature; and daring and inspiring outdoor adventures. Learn more and join us!

We had a great season of facility rentals at our beautiful Stone Barn and the 2018 season is open for bookings—now including a limited number of weddings with receptions at our Stone Barn Farm. Check out the details online and contact us if you'd like to schedule a site visit to discuss your event. It's a beautiful site to host your special event and connects your guests to our sanctuary and mission.

Don't forget to check out our Great Neck Facebook Page, which is a great way to stay connected with our sanctuary in Wareham. "Like" the page to follow our latest posts!

We hope to see you soon at Southcoast Sanctuaries!

Delivering a Great Volunteer Experience—to YOU!

Certified Service Enterprise seal

We can't even begin to articulate the importance of our volunteers, from our Sanctuary Advisory Committee members to Duck Derby sales and support crews to trail stewards, beach crews and volunteer program leaders—just to name a few.

That's why we're proud to announce that both Allens Pond and Great Neck earned recognition as Certified Service Enterprises this year! By achieving this level of excellence and certification—awarded by the Points of Light Institute—we are now better-equipped to leverage the time and talent of our volunteers in order to meet our mission.
