Jake and Lucas bird-a-thon 2020
From 6pm May 15 through 6pm May 16, over 25 teams from all over Massachusetts will compete to identify the most species of birds in a 24 hour period. Bird-a-thon is a reminder of the variety and abundance of wildlife that surrounds us and our responsibility to preserve their habitats.
This year, I am participating in Bird-a-thon because I believe in the importance of protecting the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife. I support Mass Audubon’s efforts to protect and steward the environment of Massachusetts through conservation, education, and advocacy.
To support social distancing efforts and safety, and to emphasize the environmental benefits of birding locally, this year's event will encourage brids to find birds in their own backyards and in their neighborhood, birding on foot. Being able to get out dor a little bit everyday with the kids to enjoy the changing of the seasons and the passage of migrant birds through our city has been a great source of comfort the past weeks.
Lucas and I are birding for the Boston Nature Center. All of the money raised goes to support the educational mission of the BNC, helping introduce other kids from Boston to the wonders of nature.
Please join me in supporting this important work by making a donation through my personal fundraising page.
