The black-capped chickadee should be seen by every team in Massachusetts on May 15-16, during Mass Audubon’s annual Bird-a-thon fundraiser. But that may not be the case by 2050 as warming temperatures reduce the habitat for our iconic state bird in our very own state. I am raising money for Broadmoor's Team to increase education and awareness about climate change and its effects on people and wildlife. Improvements in habitat management, research to better understand what plants and animals need to be resilient, and education for people of all ages about how they can reduce the rate of global warming will all be helped by your gift to Birdathon.
Bird-a-thon is a 24-hour birding competition to identify the most species of birds in a 24-hour period. Bird-a-thon serves as a reminder of the variety and abundance of wildlife that surrounds us and our responsibility to preserve their habitats.
Please join me by making a donation through my personal fundraising page. If you'd like to join me in the field, please join Broadmoor's Fair Weather Birding e-mail list for how to be part of the team.
