Personal Fundraising Page
Hi all friends of the birds,
Once again I am participating in Mass Audubon's annual Bird-a-thon, a 24-hour birding marathon competition where teams representing different Mass Audubon sanctuaries and programs attempt to identify the most species of birds in a 24-hour period from May 12-13, during the spring migration. And what a thrill it is! As for many previous years, I will be a team member of the Belmont Habitat Sanctuary, which is not only a beautiful place, but its staff and many volunteers offer walks, classes and fun for inner city and local kids, as well as advocating for our environment, desperately needed now more than ever!
Bird-a-thon serves as a reminder of the variety and abundance of wildlife that surrounds us and our responsibility to preserve their habitats. I support Mass Audubon’s efforts to protect and steward the environment of Massachusetts through conservation, education, and advocacy. Birds may look free and safe from human reach, but the alarming increase in horrific damage by climate change has not only effected our water and soil but the very air every creature breathes and in the wind flanking the wings of our precious birds.
Please join me in supporting this important work by making a donation through my personal fundraising page. If you would prefer to send me a check, payable to Habitat Audubon, you can mail it to me at 105 Green Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. I will let you all know both the names of the birds, even the House Sparrow counts(!), and the total numbers of speciies as soon as I recover after May 13th!
Your support is very much appreciated, as always. Whatever you can give, helps tremenduously. Thank you.
