May flowers bring hummingbirds and more!
A very wet April is the ticket to bring forth abundant buds and insects that in turn bring forth the birds of May.
For me, new EYEGLASSES is going to be the ticket for sighting these birds! I now am fully equipped to more quickly recognize that flash of color, or discernt the shape of a silhouette. Which means, that for Birdathon weekend, I will try to outdo last year in earning your financial support.
What is Birdathon? From May 10-11, over 750 people from all over Massachusetts will focus on nature by participating in Mass Audubon’s annual Bird-a-thon fundraiser.
The centerpiece of Bird-a-thon is a 24-hour birding competition where teams representing different Mass Audubon sanctuaries and programs attempt to identify the most species of birds in a 24-hour period. Bird-a-thon serves as a reminder of the variety and abundance of wildlife that surrounds us and our responsibility to preserve their habitats.
Once again, I am raising money for Bird-a-thon because I believe in the importance of protecting the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife. Gifts to my & my teammates' pages will directly support our youth engagement which includes our Voc Tech High School Coop position, urban bird education for afterschool program participants, service learning collaborations with youth groups and schools, and so much more.
Please join me in supporting this important work by making a donation through my fundraising page. Together we will support Mass Audubon’s important work to protect and steward the environment of Massachusetts through conservation, education, and advocacy.
Many thanks in advance. May you too embrace the company of returning birds!
