Bird*a*thon 2018! The Year of the Bird.
"A list of birds seen on a certain day is...a form of thanksgiving for being alive at a certain time and place." (Brian Kimberling NYT 4/2013)
Happy Spring to you!
...and thank you for visiting my 2018 Birdathon page.
On May 11 through May 12, over 25 teams from all over Massachusetts competed to identify the most species of birds in a 24 hour period. Bird-a-thon is a reminder of the variety and abundance of wildlife that surrounds us and our responsibility to preserve their habitats.
I've participated in more than a dozen Birdathons for Mass Audubon, and am always excited to give my friends and family the opportunity to help me support Mass Audubon’s efforts to protect and steward the environment of Massachusetts through conservation, education, and advocacy.
Won't it be fun for you to know that all you have to do is click a couple of times and you'll have wound me up for another year of rising pre-dawn to poke around in the woods, fields, beaches and marshes where Team Science and Bird Conservation will be trying to tally up a species count that will make you proud that you contributed!
I promise that I'll share my list with all who are interested - if only to offer some evidence of the efforts we made.
Please join me in supporting this important work by making a donation through my personal fundraising page. Donating thru this website is fast, simple and totally secure.
Many thanks again for the encouragement you show by joining with my team to help us reach our goal.
