Tucker's Bird-a-Thon Booster Page
This year, Tucker has spent his first year of preschool at Mass Audubon's Ipswich River Nature Preschool. We are so grateful to have such a wonderful program located so close to our home and are thrilled that Tucker has the opportunity to explore nature and the outdoors with the wonderful teachers and volunteers from Mass Audubon, just as his brothers did during their pre-k years.
The school's goal is to help families and young children build a strong connection to the natural world. The kids get outside every day unless it's frigid (below 15 degrees) and explore nature in the adjoining woods and meadows (Reminder to tick check your kids!). The school has a nature playground that includes great things like a mud kitchen and natural sound exploration area. Funds raised for the preschool will be used for scholarships for families who would otherwise be unable to send their child(ren) and enhanced programming for the school.
From May 10-11, over 750 people from all over Massachusetts will focus on nature by participating in Mass Audubon’s annual Bird-a-thon fundraiser. The centerpiece of Bird-a-thon is a 24-hour birding competition where teams representing different Mass Audubon sanctuaries and programs attempt to identify the most species of birds in a 24-hour period. This year, we are boosters for our school's director, Karen First, who, with her husband, has a terrific team!
