Daniel Fournier Bird-a-thon 2019
My name is Dan Fournier and this will be my 14th year participating in Bird-a-thon. Over the last 14 years, with your help, I have raised over $11,000.00 for the Masschusetts Audubon Society. This year I will be birding Ipswich with a team of birders from Drumlin Farm. I am very excited about this year! Last year we saw and heard many great birds such as the White ibis, and Whip-poor-wills, some unusual passerines and gulls. This year we hope to do the same!
Bird-a-thon is a 24 hour birding event that raises funds for conservation and education and raises awareness about the diversity of birds living in Massachusetts. This is the 35th annual Bird-a-thon and it begins at 6pm on May 10th and continues until 6pm on May 11th. Massachusetts Audubon Sanctuaries put together teams of birders who scour the state looking for as many bird species as possible. Bird-a-thon works like a walk-a-thon, except sponsors pledge an amount of money either per species of bird seen or a fixed amount.
I believe in the importance of protecting the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife. I support Mass Audubon’s efforts to protect and steward the environment of Massachusetts through conservation, education, and advocacy.
