Nature Needs Your Love - Becky's Bird-a-thon in the Berks
Hello Nature Lovers!
From May 10-11 our Berkshire Wildlife Sanctuaries team of staff and volunteers will embark on 24 hours of "competitive birding" to raise money to support our programs. This year, we celebrate 90 years of protecting nature and helping people connect with the natural world at our Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary in Lenox. 90 years!! We rely on local fundraising to support our work in the Berkshires - and WE NEED YOUR HELP.
What's raised in the Berkshires, STAYS in the Berkshires! Your donation provides direct support of:
- free bird walks throughout Berkshire County
- supporting local interns and volunteers in important citizen science projects in the Berkshires, including monitoring nest boxes and conducting grassland bird counts
- connecting students in our in-school Berkshire Environmental Literacy program to their local ecosystem and inspiring a lifelong passion for protection of the natural world
- protecting critical habitat for birds and other wildlife
Not only is Bird-a-thon a critical fundraiser, it serves as a reminder of the variety and abundance of wildlife that surrounds us and our responsibility to preserve their habitats. And, it's a fabulous excuse for me to get outside and bird! (Something I've loved to do since childhood, but find less time for these days).
As Pleasant Valley celebrates 90 years of helping people fall in love with nature – please join us. We know that when people love something, they want to take care of it. And nature desperately needs more people to care for it.
Thank you so much and happy birding!!
