Dragon's Bird-a-thon 2020
Thank you for visiting my Bird-a-thon fundraising page. From May 15-16, nature heroes from all over Massachusetts will focus on nature by participating in Mass Audubon’s annual Bird-a-thon fundraiser. Due to COVID-19, this will be the organization’s first Bird-at-home-a-thon, which will be carbon-free, safety-focused, and family-friendly!
I will be birding with CJ the whole time! Friday evening at 6pm, we will start by birding areas around our house. Then on Saturday May 16, we will start early in the morning and bird all day through 6pm. During a skateboarding jaunt last week, CJ said, "too bad we can't just bird the bike trail on birdathon!" I told him that might just work out this year. Then we got the official word that Bird-a-thon would be modified this year. So we will use legs and non-motorized wheels along the tri-community greenway from near our house to Horn Pond or the Mystic Lakes!
Teams representing different Mass Audubon sanctuaries and programs will come together to collectively identify as many species of birds in a 24-hour period and also complete other fun, nature-based activities from their home. We bird for Broadmoor where I have worked for 16 years. Bird-a-thon serves as a reminder of the variety and abundance of wildlife that surrounds us and our responsibility to preserve their habitats.
I appreciate your support and hope you will make a donation of any amount!
Thank you and have a good day,
