Erin Ellingwood's 2019 Bird-a-thon Fundraising Page
From May 10-11, over 750 people from all over Massachusetts will focus on nature by participating in Mass Audubon's annual Bird-a-thon fundraiser. Including me!
The centerpiece of Bird-a-thon is a 24-hour team birding competition that takes place all across Massachusetts. Teams representing different Mass Audubon sanctuaries and programs attempt to identify the most species of birds in a 24-hour period.
But Bird-a-thon is about more than just birds and birding. Spending a day exploring outside immerses me in the variety and abundance of wildlife that surrounds me everyday.
It also serves as a powerful reminder of the responsibility I have in preserving and protecting the habitats I explore.
Why I'm Participating
> My Goal: $750 <
From conservation to education to advocacy, Mass Audubon's work is not just about birds!
This year, I am raising money for Bird-a-thon because I believe in the importance of Mass Audubon's mission to protect the wildlife and wild lands of Massachusetts.
Mass Audubon is...
Entirely independent, 100% local.
Mass Audubon is NOT a chapter of the National Audubon Society and shares no affiliation with any other national organization; they are an independent, local nonprofit.
Leading the statewide response to climate change.
As part of the largest freshwater ecological restoration ever in the Northeast, Mass Audubon is seeking to create a wildlife sanctuary at Tidmarsh Farms in Plymouth that will become a national model for protecting restored lands.
Protecting conservation policy progress and fighting backslide.
With the future of our environment in more jeopardy than ever, Mass Audubon is fighting to protect the progress of the last 50 years while advocating against misguided, ill-conceived policies at the federal, state, and local levels.
Making nature accessible to people of all abilities.
Everyone should be able to enjoy nature, and Mass Audubon rises to meet that goal with outdoor programs for people of all abilities, scholarships for campers whose families can't afford summer camp, construction of All Persons Trails at their wildlife sanctuaries, and education programs that bring nature to students in underserved schools and communities.
Please join me in supporting all the important work Mass Audubon does by making a donation through this page.
Thank you so much!
