Johnathon Benson's Bird-A-Thon 2019 fundraising page
From May 10-11th, over 750 people from all over Massachusetts will focus on nature by participating in Mass Audubon’s annual Bird-a-thon fundraiser. I currently coordinate the teen birding program, which gives many opportunities for teens to get outdoors and learn to understand and appreciate these amazing winged creatures. As an ornithologist, it is an incredibly important time of the year for me and I hope that through this work I can continue to foster a love for wildlife in all of my many students.
The centerpiece of Bird-a-thon is a 24-hour birding competition where teams representing different Mass Audubon sanctuaries and programs attempt to identify the most species of birds in a 24-hour period. Bird-a-thon serves as a reminder of the variety and abundance of wildlife that surrounds us and our responsibility to preserve their habitats.
This year, I am raising money for Bird-a-thon because I believe in the importance of protecting the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife. I support Mass Audubon’s efforts to protect and steward the environment of Massachusetts through conservation, education, and advocacy.
Please join me in supporting this important work by making a donation through my personal fundraising page.
