I'm having such fun experiencing my first spring here on the North Shore of Massachusetts. In fact, all season changes at Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary since I started here last summer have been spectacular. As I write this, our vernal pools throb with wood frogs, spring peepers and spotted salamanders and the woodcock are entertaining me with their evening courtship sky dance. And who doesn’t love watching the migrants pass through and the birds who stay to have their young?
With spring, comes the important annual Mass Audubon fundraiser and birding competition, the 2019 Bird-a-thon! I’m excited to join a team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable birders who will spend 24 hours exploring fields, marshes, forests and coast looking for as many bird species as possible - perhaps seeing more than any other team! We do this not only to spend time outside together and observe lots of birds, but to raise critical funds for Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary.
Donations through Bird-a-thon help us provide engaging, hands-on education programs to thousands of people, protect and enhance bird habitat on our sanctuaries throughout the North Shore, and provide access to nature for walkers, hikers, and wildlife watchers young and old.
I’m hoping to exceed last year's total of $18,000 and I’m asking for your help. Please join our family of supporters by making a donation. Click on the gold “Donate Now” button on the right side of this page or write a check made out to Mass Audubon and mail it to 87 Perkins Row, Topsfield, MA 01983. Click on “Join Amy’s Team” if you would like to set up on your own fundraising page to help Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary. The more the merrier!
Thank you for your consideration.
