From May 10-11, over 750 people will participate in Mass Audubon’s Bird-a-thon. That is sooo many people!
The centerpiece of the Bird-a-thon is a 24-hour birding competition where teams representing different Mass Audubon sanctuaries and programs attempt to identify the most species of birds in a 24-hour period. That isn’t a lot of time! Actually, I see some birds myself! Okay, fine. I see a TON of birds in my backyard. Mostly Grackles, also Canada Geese.
Well, I will stop being a chatterbox and GET TO WORK TYPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What’s important is that the Bird-a-thon serves as a reminder of the variety and abundance of wildlife that surrounds us and our responsibility to preserve their habitats. In addition to raising awareness, the Bird-a-thon is also Mass Audubon’s fundraiser. This year, I am raising money for Bird-a-thon because I believe in the importance of protecting the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife. All the money my teammates and I raise will support Boston Nature Center’s vacation week, and summer vacation programs for kids like me.
Please donate through my personal web page in order to support Mass Audubon’s efforts to protect and take care of the environment of Massachusetts through conservation, education, and advocacy
