Meghadeepa's Bird-a-thon Fundraiser
On May 15-16, I'll be participating in Mass Audubon's annual Bird-a-thon fundraiser. Teams representing different Mass Audubon sanctuaries and programs will come together to identify as many species of birds in a 24-hour period and also complete other nature-based activities. Bird-a-thon serves as a reminder of the variety and abundance of wildlife that surrounds us and our responsibility to preserve their habitats. This year, Bird-a-thon will be a carbon-friendly and safety-focused event.
Growing up, I watched as the habitats surrounding my childhood home disappeared in a matter of months, and I saw the most immediate impact in the bird species I loved so well. Birds are the frontline workers amidst climate change, pollution, urbanization, and other exploitative human activities that are changing the earth at a pace that's too fast for wildlife to keep up with. Birds have made me kind, patient, thoughtful, observant, resilient AND HAPPY! So this is part of my fight to support the excellent efforts at Mass Audubon to protect and steward the environment of Massachusetts through conservation, education, and advocacy. The Trump administration is using the coronavirus pandemic as an excuse to quietly remove urgent environmental protections, so this is a crucial time to be supporting this cause.
Please contribute towards this important work by making a donation through my personal fundraising page. Any amount matters!
