Mass Audubon’s Bird-a-thon fundraiser is coming May 12 through 13, and it is crucial to the success of Joppa Flats Education Center! As Joppa’s director for almost 20 years, and now as Joppa’s new Bird-a-thon captain, I know firsthand what Bird-a-thon gifts can do.

Your Bird-a-thon support each year helps Joppa Flats:
- Teach more than 8,000 school children with our custom environmental education programs.
- Host at least 3,000 people in free programs that attract a diverse population of adults and families.
- Create nine weeklong summer sessions that provide a “nature home” for more than 165 campers.
Guide 2,600+ adults through continuing education in birding and avian biology.

On behalf of Sanctuary Director David Moon and the Joppa Flats Education Center staff – David Larson, Melissa Vokey, Lisa Hutchings, Kirsten Lindquist, Jude Griffin, Meg de Give, Alison O-Hare, and Ben Flemer – not to mention all the folks who experience birding, marine science, and the general pleasures of our natural world via Joppa Flats – I very much appreciate whatever donation you can make. If you have questions, please call me. Thank you.
