You can make a difference with your contribution!
A lot has changed since Stony Brook first got involved with Bird-a-thon in 1986 but the goals and spirit behind that very first event have remained the same. Bird-a-thon is a fund raiser for Mass Audubon, originally conceived as a fun and friendly competition among bird lovers throughout MA and a way to reach out to others who share our similar ideas. Over the years the proceeds from Bird-a-thon have helped to purchase land, provide educational opportunities for people throughout the Commonwealth, and to protect wildlife for the benefit of all.
Times change and it is natural that we change with them in order to meet the new challenges we face. This year’s Bird-a-thon rules have been modified to be more inclusive while maintaining that tradition of friendly competition among birders. I’m looking forward to this year’s event and hope you will join me and contribute to the Metro South Team’s efforts. Your support of me is support for Stony Brook, Moose Hill, The Museum of American Bird Art, and the Blue Hills Trailside Museum.
