Female Common Eider with "nasal disks"
Female Common Eider with "nasal disks"

In 2023, Mass Audubon's annual Bird-a-thon fundraiser is on May 12th and 13th. As in years past, we're raising money for their South East Sanctuaries. This year the funds raised will help support their Environmental Nature Camps for kids.

One of the wonderful things about spending time outside is that there is always something new to see and learn. Back in March, I found a female Common Eider with colored plastic carefully attached to her bill. Doing some online searching, I discovered a research program based in Maine that is tagging and tracking female eiders as part of an eider breeding success project. Who knew?

Today, please help us support learning at Mass Audubon's South East Sanctuaries by making a donation here on our personal fundraising page. Simply click on "Donate Now" in the upper right of this page.

We greatly appreciate your support.

Cheers,

Rusty and Aileen
