From May 14-15, nature heroes from all over Massachusetts will celebrate nature by participating in Mass Audubon's annual Bird-a-thon fundraiser!
During this event, teams representing different Mass Audubon wildlife sanctuaries or statewide programs recruit team members to participate in the fun while also raising funds to support Mass Audubon's work protecting the nature of Massachusetts.
This year is particularly special, because Mass Audubon is celebrating its 125th anniversary! The organization was founded in 1896 by two Boston women who used their voices to stop the slaughter of birds for fashion. Now, in 2021, Mass Audubon remains an independent organization at the forefront of conservation.
Why I'm Participating
I am raising money for Bird-a-thon because I believe that nature needs heroes now more than ever. I support Mass Audubon's efforts to profoundly engage the residents of Massachusetts in the importance of protecting nature for the benefit of people and wildlife.
Our team, The Lame Ducks, will be competing with other Sanctuary teams to find the most species. We will bird the Upper Cape from Wellfleet to Provincetown.
Will you consider supporting me and my team by making a donation? Consider donating $1.00 for each species we see during Bird-a-Thon when my team will bird from 6 pm Friday evening through 6 pm Saturday, May 15th! I'll send you the checklist of all the birds we see and you can donate in the "Other" category. Or any other amount is helpful.`
Here's to the birds who bring joy to us all!
