Lisa Hutchings' Fundraising Page
I am so pleased to let you know that I will be participating in Bird-a-thon 2021 with my son Danny and some of the Joppa Flats teens on May 14-15. Just like people all over Massachusetts, we’ll be together for a 24-hour period to identify as many species of birds as we can and help raise crucial funds for Mass Audubon.
Bird-a-thon is one of my favorite events of the year. It makes me so proud to help contribute to fundraising efforts for this wonderful organization. Do you realize that I’ve been with Mass Audubon for 15 years!? And this year, Joppa Flats, Ipswich River, and Endicott are joining forces into one North Shore team; all funds raised will go directly to support Joppa Flats and all the beautiful sanctuaries in Essex County.
Each dollar raised helps us:
· Protect thousands of acres of land on the North Shore, providing habitat for birds and other wildlife.
· Educate all ages through innovative approaches, focusing on adult birding programs, youth empowerment, nature-based preschool, and summer camp; also to engage volunteers and interns to steward land, improve habitat, contribute to science, greet visitors, and inspire others to care for the environment.
· Maintain approximately 20 miles of trails on our Essex County sanctuaries, which are enjoyed by more than 25,000 people each year.
Throughout this very challenging year, the North Shore kept our nature preschool running, our vacation and summer camps stayed open and our teachers learned virtually with online workshops. We ran weekly outdoor programs for homeschoolers and families; we opened all the sanctuary trails that our staff could manage; and we even found a way to operate our seasonal bird banding station on the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge this spring. Our next step will be to open our education and visitor centers, and we are so looking forward to welcoming the community back!
I hope you will consider making a generous donation to my personal fundraising page. I truly appreciate whatever you can contribute and thank you in advance for supporting our important work.
Thank you for all you do for Joppa Flats and the North Shore Wildlife Sanctuaries to allow us to protect, conserve, and cherish the nature of Massachusetts! Go Team!
