Peggy's Bird-a-thon Page
Thank you for visiting my Bird-a-thon page!
Meet my friend and hero, Tweety Bird. Tweety and I are asking for your support for Mass Audubon’s annual birding competition, Bird-a-thon. I’ve been participating in Bird-a-thon for 13 years, helping to raise money for environmental research, conservation, and education.
How did Tweety get involved? Birds are the proverbial canary in the coal mine, the “coal mine” being our environment. By studying birds -- especially changes in their migration patterns, their numbers, and their ranges (where they breed and spend the winter) -- scientists observe and predict the impact of climate change on the world that birds (and humans) inhabit. This research has helped scientists identify actions we can take to mitigate these changes. By protecting birds and their environment, we are protecting ourselves from the most severe projected effects of climate change. Who knew that Tweety Bird would prove to be such a formidable partner in our effort to save the planet!
I hope you will support Tweety Bird’s and my efforts with a donation to Bird-a-thon. The dollars I raise will fuel Mass Audubon Cape Cod Wildlife Sanctuaries’ bird research and education programs, from shore bird monitoring and terrapin protection to science instruction in outer Cape classrooms.
Thanks in advance for your support!
