Lynn's Bird-a-thon Page
With gratitude and hope we’re welcoming spring and a flurry of birds heading our way. Like the poet, we delight in their song:
“and thrush
Through the echoing timber does so rinse and wring
The ear, it strikes like lightnings to hear him sing;”
- Gerard Manley Hopkins “Spring”
And, yes, it’s time for Bird-a-thon once again! Teams representing Mass Audubon sanctuaries will raise funds and, on May 13 - 14, will count the bird species across the state. Through this annual birding competition, with your help, I raise money to support Mass Audubon’s important mission of protecting birds, other wildlife and the environment we all share. Money raised through Bird-a-thon protects our wildlife sanctuaries, supports educational programming for all ages, and funds conservation projects critical to the protection of our wildlife. Your donations make this possible.
I used this photo, “Beech Forest: waiting for the Chickadees”, for Bird-a-thon fundraising many years ago. The young lad, Thomas, now plays college football, and Taylor recently celebrated her 16th birthday. It gives me an idea of how long many of you have been my Bird-a-thon supporters. Thank you, thank you for all your generous support over the years.
Please join me in making a donation once again.
