Boston Region
Boston Region Team
Bask in the wonders of the spring migration and dawn chorus as you join us in celebrating 40 years of Bird-a-thon!
On May 12 & 13, the Boston Region Team, comprised of staff from the Boston Nature Center and community members from all over MA will spend 24 hours counting as many bird species as possible to compete for several different trophies and awards while we fundraise for Mass Audubon.
Here are some ways you can participate with us if you join the Boston Region Team!
Fundraise for the Boston Region and help us reach our goal of $12,500! Any individual team member who raises at least $2,500.00 will have the choice of:
1. A guided natural history walk for up to 10 people (including yourself)
2. A guided bird walk for up to 10 people (including yourself)
3. A free child's birthday party at the BNC
Join the Sitting Duck group at the Boston Nature Center on Saturday, May 12 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm during the competition to help us compete for the Sitting Duck trophy! Come for as much or as little as you would like! This group will be birding in Margaret's Meadow in a 25-foot diameter circle. This event is drop-in and a great option for families or folks with limited availability or mobility. We will have scopes and binoculars on tripods.
Join the Competitive Birding group and choose a part of the state where you will be looking for specific birds as part of the official count that we will submit to compete for the Brewster’s Cup trophy!
Compete in completing the Nature Activities with your friends or family and get out there to see how much you can see!
As the first Mass Audubon summer camp to offer a sliding scale, the BNC has a proud legacy of equitable access to nature. Each summer, 50% of campers receive financial assistance. Each camp session is two weeks of ten-hour days including before and after care. During those weeks, every camper goes on a field trip, experiences nature through our garden, nature story tellers, take home books, and science education in their neighborhood. 100% of all Bird-a-thon funds collected is used to support our summer camp scholarship fund.
If you aren’t able to join our team efforts, you can also support the Boston Region Team, or a specific team member, by making a donation through this secure fundraising website. Thank you for your support and for cheering us on!
